Carlos Alcaraz is making waves at Wimbledon 2025, with his performance drawing comparisons to some of the greatest players in the history of the sport. With each victory, he solidifies his place among the legends and etches his name further into the Wimbledon record books.
Alcaraz’s Impressive Wimbledon Win Streak
Alcaraz’s current form at Wimbledon has propelled him into the top 10 of longest winning streaks at the prestigious tournament. Following his victory over Fabio Fognini, Alcaraz has achieved 15 consecutive wins on the Wimbledon grass, spanning from 2023 to 2025.
Currently, Alcaraz is on an 18-match winning streak at Wimbledon. His last defeat at the All England Club was in 2022, when he lost to Jannik Sinner in the fourth round.
Comparisons to the ‘Big Three’ and Other Legends
Alcaraz’s early Grand Slam career is outpacing those of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. By reaching the semi-finals at the All England Club, Alcaraz increased his tally of main-draw match wins at the Slams to 76, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s record after the same number of majors.
In fact, none of the ‘Big Three’ matched Alcaraz’s match win record across their first 18 major campaigns. Bjorn Borg won 78 matches across his first 18 majors, a tally Alcaraz can match by winning his third consecutive Wimbledon title.
Alcaraz is also being compared to other Wimbledon legends like Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg. He is aiming to become only the fifth man in the Open Era to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles, a feat previously achieved by Borg, Sampras, Djokovic and Federer. Alcaraz is also on track to complete a second consecutive ‘Channel Slam’. Bjorn Borg is the only other man in the Open era who managed to complete the feat in successive years.
Pursuit of a Third Consecutive Wimbledon Title
Alcaraz is currently competing in the Wimbledon 2025 semi-finals against Taylor Fritz. Alcaraz leads Fritz 2-0 in their head-to-head record. If Alcaraz wins Wimbledon, he will reach 25 wins on the bounce.
Alcaraz’s Dominance on Grass
Alcaraz has a career record of 33-3 on grass, a winning rate of 91.7 per cent, the best of any man in the Open era. Of the players to reach No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings in the Open Era, Alcaraz is the fastest to claim 30 wins on grass.
