CHICAGO, IL – Wilson Sporting Goods Co. has officially unveiled the Ultra v5, the latest iteration of its popular Ultra racket franchise, with several top professional tennis players, including ATP world No. 12 Alex de Minaur, making the switch. The new racket, designed for dominating power and pinpoint accuracy, became available on July 15, 2025.
The Ultra v5 is engineered for intermediate to advanced athletes, aiming to unlock a broader range of shot potential and making it the most versatile Ultra racket Wilson has ever released. Its debut has already garnered attention on tour, being adopted by a growing roster of elite talent.
Pro Players Making the Switch to Ultra v5
A significant highlight of the Ultra v5 launch is the immediate adoption by several high-profile Wilson-sponsored athletes. Alex de Minaur, known for his aggressive baseliner style, is among the leading players transitioning to the new frame. De Minaur expressed confidence in the new racket, stating, “The new Ultra v5 gives me a whole new level of confidence on court—the power and accuracy are on another level.” While de Minaur previously endorsed the Blade, he had been using a customized Steam 99, and the move to the Ultra 99 Pro aligns his on-court equipment with his endorsement.
Other notable players making the switch to the Ultra v5 include:
- Qinwen Zheng
- Maria Sakkari
- Marta Kostyuk
Marta Kostyuk will also be the first to showcase a full head-to-toe performance look inspired by the racket’s Electric Indigo colorway, including a matching dress and tennis shoes.
Key Innovations of the Ultra v5
The Ultra v5 introduces several performance-driven upgrades, meticulously designed to meet the evolving demands of the modern game, which emphasizes increased spin, shot variety, and explosivity.
SI3D™ Frame Technology
A cornerstone of the Ultra v5’s innovation is the proprietary SI3D™ Frame Technology. This advancement blends best-in-class stability with increased flexibility, aiming to create a unique feel that enhances power, spin, and control. Wilson engineers developed this to allow for a more flexible racket without sacrificing stability, ultimately adding more control without compromising power.
Consistent Spec Control
Wilson has focused on tightening the tolerances for weight, balance, and swing weight, ensuring greater consistency from one Ultra v5 frame to another. This attention to detail in manufacturing aims to provide players with a more predictable and reliable feel across multiple rackets.
“Click & Go” Bumper and Grommet System
The Ultra v5 features a new “Click & Go” Bumper and Grommet System. This system is designed for easy replacement, increased durability, and a superior fit. Notably, these components are developed with Agiplast, a plant-based material, reflecting Wilson’s commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Electric Indigo Colorway
Visually, the Ultra v5 stands out with its bold Electric Indigo colorway, making a distinct statement on the court. This deep blue with aqua highlights and the option of black or white grip adds a fresh aesthetic to the new line.
