Jannik Sinner’s coach, Darren Cahill, might be reconsidering his departure from Sinner’s team, which was initially set for the end of 2025. The speculation arose after Sinner’s recent Wimbledon victory, where he secured his fourth major title.
Cahill, who began coaching Sinner in 2022 alongside Simone Vagnozzi, had previously stated that 2025 would be his final year on tour. However, following Sinner’s Wimbledon win, Cahill remained evasive when questioned about his future.
Sinner disclosed that he and Cahill had made a bet before the Wimbledon final: if Sinner won, he would have the power to decide whether Cahill stayed on as his coach. After defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final, Sinner playfully revealed that the choice was now his.
Sinner expressed his desire to keep Cahill on board, even if it meant Cahill would travel less. He emphasized the importance of having an honest person in his corner who provides guidance both on and off the court. Sinner also acknowledged Cahill’s family commitments and the possibility of him transitioning to new endeavors after his coaching career.
Cahill himself hinted at a possible change of heart, stating that he didn’t want to answer questions about his future and suggesting that the media should ask Sinner instead.
Sinner has great respect for Cahill’s decision to potentially step away from tennis and feels honored to be the last player he coaches on tour. He acknowledged Cahill’s positive impact on him and other players he has worked with.
